Legendary Tuskegee Airmen to Celebrate
40th Anniversary of Boys & Girls Club of Broward County
On Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. members of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County and help launch the organization’s Ionosphere Club with a special visit to its Nan Knox facility. Approximately 40th youth will have an opportunity to learn firsthand about the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen as the community prepares to recognize the Dr. Martin Luther King national holiday. The Club has adopted the Tuskegee Airmen as roles models and has partnered with the Red Tail Project in developing innovative education programs like the Ionosphere Club which will target youth with an interest in aviation, science and math. The Tuskegee Airmen will be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor in the Spring of 2007.
