Update on the upcoming awarding of the Congressional Gold Medal (CGM).
- The final OTA design of the medal has been forwarded to the Secretary of Treasury
- Once the design has been signed off by the Secretary, it will then be forwarded to the U.S. Mint where it will be struck as a medal (this normally takes about 6-8 weeks)
- Since this is November, that would place the medal's availability to the OTAs in January, 2007 when the new U.S. Congress comes into session
- It has been surmised, that because February is Black History Month, the medal could possibility be awarded in February, 2007
